Jaan Roose, three-time world champion in slacklining and Hollywood stuntman, completed a historic crossing of the Strait of Messina. Walking on a slackline 1.9 cm wide and stretched for over 3.6 km at more than 200 meters in height, he braved the heat, wind, and gravity. Starting from Santa Trada in Calabria and arriving in Torre Faro in Sicily, Roose faced adverse weather conditions and a path with several elevation changes.
In about three hours, Roose surpassed the previous slackline distance record by almost a kilometer, demonstrating extraordinary physical and mental abilities.
This crossing has solidified his position as a global reference point in slacklining, inspiring enthusiasts worldwide and showing that with preparation and determination, no obstacle is insurmountable.
Much like Philippe Petit’s historic walk between the Twin Towers in 1974, Roose’s crossing stands as a defining moment in modern history. It not only pushes the boundaries of human potential but inspires dreamers and adventurers worldwide. With this monumental achievement, Jaan Roose has cemented his place as a true pioneer in slacklining, proving that no challenge is too great when preparation and passion lead the way.
